The SINCERE project is close to its end, and it is time to spread the word beyond the lab, evaluating our new technologies in real life, transforming them to products, and reaching a wider audience. The strong presence of SINCERE in top scientific conferences, the interview of our coordinator Ioannis Karatasios on Greek TV, and a recent article on the Economist magazine, are only some of the tangible measures of impact that the project has already achieved.

SINCERE featured on The Economist!
The Economist dedicated a full "science & technology" article on the radiative cooling paints developed by UCL in the context of the SINCERE project, and explains in simple terms the main characteristics of this innovative technology, and its wider potential impact, mentioning also the on-going experiments with this technology at SINCERE's Madrid pilot. The Economist has more than 1 million active paid subscribers and more than 5 million readers, and it addresses globally curious, intellectually engaged professionals who need to understand how scientific breakthroughs will reshape business, society, and geopolitics. That is exactly the target audience of the SINCERE project and this article will certainly increase the impact of our work.
SINCERE featured on popular TV channel in Greece
The documentary series "Prime Time" on SKAI TV provides an investigative look at the fast-evolving digital frontier and its profound social consequences. The series tackles high-concept shifts like their feature special “Artificial Intelligence: The Invisible Mind”. In one episodes of this series journalist Korina Georgiou visited the Ceramics and Composite Materials Group, at the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology of NCSR “Demokritos” and interviewed SINCERE project's coordinator Ioannis Karatasios about the self-healing capsules that can increase significantly the service life of concrete. For this, the panel developed for SINCERE booth at ECOMONDO 2026 was very useful!

SINCERE at the top conferences
RILEM and fib events are milestones for the research community on innovative construction materials, and SINCERE had a strong presence in the RILEM Spring convention, with a keynote talk by Liberato Ferrara. Prof. Ferrara was honored to become a RILEM Fellow after his keynote talk, by one the world's leading scientific and technical organizations in the field. SINCERE organized a full special session at the 7th fib Congress, a top conference taking place only once every four years. SINCERE was also present at RILEM in Kenya with an invited talk by Prof. Ruben Borg.

SINCERE featured in the local news in Rhodes Island
In Rhodes Greece took place a unique experiment in community engagement through the #TalkingBuildings methodology, a collaboration between the SINCERE project's partners NetHood and the Service of Modern Monuments and Technical Works of the Dodecanese (S.M.M.T.W.D) of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture, with the local actors Synergy Rhodes and Radio Lihnari. The participation at the latest event was enthusiastic and in addition to various creative, emotional, and individual contributions, a collection of poems and short texts was created by the Creative Reading and Writing Laboratory TO KOCHYLI (meaning "The Shell") and published as a book both in Greek and English. It was featured in the local news press, both printed and online. Radio Lihnari also broadcasted a series of these stories as audio statements, which were later edited in a short video by Panayotis Antoniadis (NetHood).

SINCERE at the Megaron, the Athens Concert Hall
SINCERE project's coordinator Ioannis Karatasios is one of the speakers in a high profile event at the Megaron the Athens Concert Hall, titled "Demokritos future forward: Science for a better world", where he will present, among others, the results of the SINCERE project. Another opportunity for SINCERE's innovations to reach out to a wider audience.
SINCERE at the Schönbrunn Palace
On November 11-13, 2026, SINCERE will host a very special training session at the Cultural Heritage and New Technologies (CHNT31) conference in Vienna, Austria, activating the #TalkingBuildings tool. The goal is to give to the Schönbrunn Palace, the new venue of the conference, a voice for a keynote talk presenting itself. A unique experience, bringing together the application of advanced technologies and methodological tools, in a very playful and engaging context. More specifically, in addition to advanced technological ways to visualize the physical characteristics of a building using specialized tools like 3D scanning with LiDAR scanners, subsurface scanning with ultrasonic tomographers and thermal cameras, we will explore numerous approaches in understanding a building though intangible means. From ethnography to architectural sketching, from activating our human senses to employing our imagination, from documenting lived experiences to understanding history. From storytelling, to mathematics.

SINCERE Conference & Advanced Workshop 2027
After the success of the first SINCERE conference and advanced workshop in July 2025 in Athens, the closing event of the SINCERE project will be based on the same format, extending its hands-on part to more SINCERE innovations, since there was a lot of positive feedback on this part of the event. The second 2027 edition will take place in April and the final date to be announced soon. Stay tuned!
MUSEum+ workshop - see what happened
The SINCERE partner MUSEum+ celebrates the signing of an ownership contract that will enable the renovation and transformation of Blast furnaces 4 and 6 of the former Vítkovice Ironworks to a modern Industrial Museum. The SINCERE project invited local actors to a 2-day workshop on April 21-22, in order to get informed about the ongoing experimentation with innovative materials, energy solutions, and ICT tools. It was a great opportunity to listen to the Blast furnaces telling the story from their own perspective!
SINCERE partner ECOAMA organized the 2026 edition of the ECOWEEK series in Romania, focusing on sustainable design, urban planning and landscape design with the central theme of Healing Spaces. The case study was a sanatorium in Eforie Sud, an architectural ensemble of significant historical and environmental value, which was created at the beginning of the 20th century. A central question posed to the architecture students was In this context, the workshops also engaged with SINCERE's #TalkingBuildings methodology developed by NetHood, as an advocacy tool.

Talking Buildings in Samos, Greece
In Samos, Greece, the #TalkingBuildings methodology has been implemented at the Marathokampos secondary school whose main building built in 1881 was damaged by a big earthquake that hit Samos on October 30, 2020. And although renovated, it remains closed for the pupils. For more than five years, they are hosted in containers occupying the school's playground. Stella Sakellari, a teacher of mathematics and special education, learned about the SINCERE's #TalkingBuildings challenge, and decided to make it a central element of her education cluster titled "Talking Buildings: The children give a voice to the buildings of our island". The cluster was very successful and the pupils connected to the historic building of the school.
