Project overview

SINCERE is a Horizon Europe project titled "The second life of modern period architecture: Resilient and adaptive renovation towards net-zero carbon heritage buildings".

The SINCERE consortium brings together seven academic and two research institutions conducting high-end research on materials, energy harvesting, and modelling, with leading European companies like TITAN, RIMOND, and ACCIONA, and SMEs with expertise on ICT tools for cultural heritage buildings with governmental bodies and non-profit organizations managing the transformation processes of a diverse set of pilot sites.

The SINCERE technologies and tools will be demonstrated at 4 sites - Pilots, in Spain, Greece, Israel and Czechia, which showcase different quantitative and qualitative characteristics. From an exclusively experimental demo site in Spain to an old mining factory in Ostrava Czechia, and from a fully functional university in Holon, Israel to an under restoration neoclassical school in Rhodes, Greece.

Beyond their role as experimental testbeds, the pilot sites will be transformed to dissemination channels through a playful process of engaging citizens to give a voice to these buildings to make their voice heard toward a more mindful attitude both toward the past and the future.
