Since June 2025, SINCERE partners organized 3 special sessions in conferences, 1 advanced workshop with hands-on training, 2 encounters with local actors in pilot sites, 2 exhibition booths in large impact events, 2 TalkingBuildings workshops, and a very successful 2-day Citizen Science programme for the European Heritage Days 2025 in Rhodes, whose outcome was presented at the European Citizen Science Association (ECSA) 2026 Conference. Our publication list is growing fast, the SINCERE innovative technologis are being tested on our pilot sites, more events are coming up, and you can join!

The SINCERE partner MUSEum+ celebrates the signing of an ownership contract that will enable the renovation and transformation of Blast furnaces 4 and 6 of the former Vítkovice Ironworks to a modern Industrial Museum. Very exciting times are coming ahead, and the SINCERE project is inviting local actors to a 2-day workshop on April 21-22, in order to get informed about the ongoing experimentation with innovative materials, energy solutions, and ICT tools. It will be also a great opportunity to listen to the Blast furnaces telling the story from their own perspective!
SINCERE partner ECOAMA is organizing the 2026 edition of the ECOWEEK series in Romania, focusing on sustainable design, urban planning and landscape design with the central theme of Gardens and Public Spaces that Heal. The case study is a sanatorium in Eforie Sud, an architectural ensemble of significant historical and environmental value, which was created at the beginning of the 20th century. The workshops will also engage with SINCERE's TalkingBuildings methodology developed by NetHood, aiming to redefine the relationship of historic cultural heritage buildings with modern societies and contemporary cities.
SINCERE session at 7th fib Congress 2026
SINCERE partners PoliMi and BGU organize a special session at the 7th fib Congress with a focus on multifunctional low-carbon cementitious composites for structural and energy retrofitting of the existing structural and building portfolio, sharing the experience of the SINCERE project. The session addresses surely to academics, considering also the multi-fold aspects of the discipline which are tackled; presenting the outcomes of a Horizon Europe project, which has in its ambition to deliver four full scale pilot applications, is also oriented to professionals working in the field of retrofitting of existing concrete structures and building as well as of concrete cultural heritage, together with decision makers and stakeholders, whose contribution of the discussion can also bring ideas to foster the acceptance of new materials in public tenders.
Everywhere that SINCERE's partner NetHood has introduced the #TalkingBuildings methodology, the reactions have been enthusiastic. In addition to the on-going success story in Rhodes, new spin-off pilot projects are under development in Greece, Switzerland, and Romania. A permanent open invitation has been formulated and citizens across Europe are invited to respond to the #TalkingBuildings Challenge. Selected supporting material and documentation of accounts of buildings given a voice are being collected at talkingbuildings.net (see also below).
Showcasing innovations to the industry - Ecomondo 2025
Selected SINCERE innovations were exhibited at Ecomondo, a high-impact event with more than 100 thousand participants in 2025, where industrial groups, stakeholders, policy makers, opinion leaders, local authorities, research bodies and institutions come together. Ioannis Karatasios and Christos Stentoumis were present at the dedicated booth at the CINEA - European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency area, showcasing four exploitable innovations developed in SINCERE.

Showcasing innovations to the academia - HMC 2025
SINCERE organized a special session and exhibition at the 7th HMC conference in Padova, Spain. SINCERE researchers gave eight paper presentations on SINCERE innovative materials, which were also showcased in a permanent Exhibition Booth designed by NetHood.
Providing hands-on experiences - SINCERE Conference & Advanced Workshop 2025
The first SINCERE conference and advanced workshop for conservation, architecture and engineering professionals took place in Athens, Greece. It was titled Innovative & Sustainable Mortars for Structural and Thermal Retrofitting of 20th Century Buildings. One of the highlights was the hand-on workshops engaging participants with the different SINCERE innovations. Including in the standard conference format such direct connection with the materials themselves can have a transformative impact for those involved and beyond.
Facilitating synergies - special session at CHNT 2025
SINCERE organized a special session at the Cultural Heritage and New Technologies Conference (CHNT) which took place in Vienna, 03-05 November 2025. We were delighted to host many of our sister projects and engage in a productive dialogue about how to create opportunities for collaboration and synergies.

Taking the lead position - Keynote talk at RILEM Spring convention
The SINCERE innovative materials will be presented in one of the most important conferences in the area, RILEM (2026 Spring Convention) by Prof. Liberato Ferrara, Politecnico di Milano.
Engaging citizens - European Heritage Days 2025 & ECSA 2026
In the context of the #TalkingBuildings Game as a citizen science methodology, two very successful participatory processes have been organized in Rhodes for the European Heritage Days 2025, in collaboration with Synergy Rhodes and Radio Lyhnari, which was then presented in the Showcase Pitch Session at the European Citizen Science Association (ECSA) 2026 Conference "the most exciting CitizenScience event in Europe" with over 600 participants.

From the lab to the market - Meet Innovmater
Research funded by the SINCERE project contributed to the creation of the spin-off company innovmater commercializing high-efficiency, high-quality self-healing admixtures for cement and concrete. It was developed by the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology at the NCSR “Democritus”, and recently received the Public Award at the "Innovation Greece 7.0: Reimagining the Future". These self-healing admixtures can achieve a 35-45% increase of service life and 25-35% reduction of maintenance costs. Going from the lab to the market in such a short time is a big achievement for the SINCERE project, and more impactful innovations are under development.
SINCERE publications list is growing fast and today our academic partners have published 8 journal articles and more than 20 conference articles and 4 posters.
The application of the SINCERE technologies at ACCIONA's demo site, the Algete pilot, has been concluded and the first measurements are being collected, while the same technologies are being applying at our demo sites in Greece, Czechia, Malta, and Israel. The next on-site workshop will take place in Ostrava and soon we will be able to provide comparative results. Stay tuned!
